City Council offering up a $1 deal to Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity has the opportunity to purchase a lot for their next project from the city for just a dollar.

The organization approached the city last year looking for a land donation, unfortunately nothing met their requirements.

In August, a fire severely damaged a home in Country Club Estates.

The city has chosen not to rebuild on that lot on 93 Street and 67 Ave, and instead plans to sell it to Habitat, while also collecting $144,000 in insurance money, which will be put towards future social housing projects.

Habitat for Humanity is hoping to build 20 new units in Grande Prairie over the next five years.
