Dawson Creek RCMP continues the search in historic missing person case

Dawson Creek RCMP continues to ask for the public’s help in tracking down a man who hasn’t been seen or heard from in nearly 45 years.

Murphy Williams was working on a farm near Mile 30 on the Alaska Highway where he had been working for the previous two days. He was last around 3 a.m. on August 15th, 1974.

Reports at the time indicate Williams was allegedly seen acting strangely throughout the night and when the farmer woke up around 7:30 a.m, he was unable to find him in the home. A thorough search of the property also turned up nothing.

Dawson Creek RCMP says the investigation remains active, and they continue to follow up on any and all possible leads.

Williams is described as Indigenous, standing 5’8″, and weighing approximately 170 pounds when he went missing.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Dawson Creek RCMP at 250-784-3700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
