Four Points “Float Day” a first for Grande Prairie

It’s a classic concoction for a great cause, as on August 7th, the Four Points Sheraton in Grande Prairie will take part in “Float Day”. Root Beer Floats will be sold throughout the afternoon, rain or shine, with all money raised going to the Children’s Miracle Network.

“As we all know in Grande Prairie, if our children get sick we have to travel to Edmonton to the Stollery Children’s Hospital. So, that’s where the money in Grande Prairie will be donated to,” says Regional Sales Manager Sandi Neville.

Across Canada last year, Neville says nearly $600,000 was raised from the event, but for the first time, the Swan City location is in a position to lend a hand.

“Our hotel is only a year and a half old, so this time last year we were still in the new stages, so this year we are really on board.”

Neville says those who may not have a lot of time the day of to come and enjoy the festivities, can pre-purchase as many floats as they wish, and they’ll be ready for a quick pick up.

The event runs from 2-5 p.m., and if the weather isn’t cooperating, Neville says the floats will still be a go inside the lobby of the hotel.
