Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge unofficially break precipitation records

An unofficial new precipitation record has been set for Grande Prairie. On July 24th, Environment Canada says 27.8 millimetres fell breaking the last record of 22.6 millimetres set on the same day in 2012.

A rainfall warning was issued on Wednesday with meteorologists predicting general amounts of 40 to 70 millimetres would fall by the time the rain ended the following day.

Beaverlodge also smashed through its previous precipitation record of 1.4 millimetres set in 2001. On Wednesday, Environment Canada says 39.4 millimetres fell on the town.
