Local NASCAR driver gearing up for two big races

A NASCAR driver from Grande Prairie is preparing for his next two big races. Jamie Krzysik will hit the track on Wednesday and again on Saturday in the NASCAR Pinty’s series.

Krzysik says participating in these races is about more than winning.

“Hopefully, you just try and build momentum and get your name out there and become a front runner so that you can attract bigger sponsors and try and make a run for the full series title.”

Krzysik has been racing in this series for the last six years but first got into the sport as a child at the Hythe Motor Speedway.

“I grew up around the race track out in Hythe there and when I was 14 I started racing; they had a mini stock division that I could get into and we progressed through the ranks there. Then I got the opportunity to race in the states for a few years so I raced down there and then made the transition into this NASCAR Pinty’s series.”

Krzysik and his #34 Chevrolet will participate in the Wyant Group Raceway Twin 125s in Saskatoon on Wednesday and in the LUXXUR 300 in Edmonton on Saturday. If all goes well with those, he’s hoping to make a trip out to Ontario in the fall and race there.
