Energy efficiency workshop planned for businesses in Grande Prairie

The city is hoping to attract owners from across the region looking to make their businesses more energy efficient.

An upcoming energy efficiency workshop will allow business owners to learn from industry leaders as to how small to medium businesses can better change with trends, as well as learn what energy efficiency initiatives are available.

“Grande Prairie has had an incredible uptake of energy efficiency programs, which means opportunities for local home improvement companies and contractors installing energy efficiency equipment,” says Darryl Hill, Vice-President of Energy Efficiency Alberta.

City of Grande Prairie Environmental Outreach Specialist Jessica Foley says it’s not just a presentation, as business owners will be able to get face time with those who are most knowledgeable.

“There is a networking component to it, so those who are looking to make some changes, or for some quick tips and tricks, that discussion will be there to be had.”

She adds events like this are born out of the wants and needs of the business community in the region.

“We really try to take the ideas from the community and what they’re wanting and focus on those. [Things like] education sessions and workshops.”

The workshop takes place on Tuesday, July 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre.
