Update: Severe thunderstorm watch ended for Grande Prairie

Update : Environment Canada has cancelled the severe severe Thunderstorm watch for Grande Prairie.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Valleyview area.

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain. Localized flash flooding is possible as well.

A band of showers from Lloydminster across to Grande Prairie will continue to move south through the day. As the showers and clouds clear, thunderstorms will develop along this line and move westward through the day and into the evening.

People are reminded that large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued large hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall is possible.
