10 drivers charged during weekend checkstops in city

Ten people have been charged and 30 tickets were issued during checkstops in the city over the weekend. Between the 12th and 14th, Grande Prairie RCMP pulled over 1,519 drivers and tested them for drugs and alcohol with the help of the Mobile Breath Test Unit.

The unit was driven to four different locations in the city and has the equipment police need to test for alcohol as well as cocaine and pot.

Over the weekend:

10 people were arrested and charged with impaired driving.
15 people were issued sanctions like 24-hour driving bans.
30 provincial tickets were issued.
3 people were screened for drugs.
2 other charges were laid.
