The Community Foundation of Northwest set a new record for themselves, in the amount of money handed out to students and charitable groups this year.
The foundation handed out more than $117,000 during last night’s annual Christmas reception.
Foundation CEO Tracy Vavrek says they were able to increase their endowments from last year by roughly $45,000.
“Every year we’re going to continue to see that increase, because we as a foundation are growing, and as a result we are able to impact the community at such a stronger level.”
39 local post-secondary students were the recipients of $37,250, while $80,395 in grant funding was divided up amongst 36 local charity groups.
Since the Community Foundation began handing out these endowment fund grants, they have invested nearly $4.2 Million back in to the community.
