Alcohol now allowed at main day use area at Saskatoon Island

In time for the Canada Day weekend, people are now able to drink alcohol in the main day use area of Saskatoon Island Provincial Park. Premier Jason Kenney announced on Friday that as of noon that day, people can drink alcohol in that area of the park, as long as it’s with food,  between the hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Minister of Environment and Parks Jason Nixon says this is part of the government’s commitment to relaxing liquor laws in Alberta parks.

“The vast majority of park users enjoy our natural spaces responsibly and our government believes in allowing adults to be adults.”

Saskatoon Island Provincial Park is one of 14 parks in the province that will now allow drinking in day-use picnic areas.
