Grande Prairie Forest Area wildfire danger level low

Thanks to some recent rain and more in the forecast, the wildfire danger level for the Grande Prairie Forest Area is now low. According to Alberta Wildfire, there has been a total of 37 recorded wildfires in the area, burning 10 hectares, since wildfire season started on March 1st.

A fire ban and off-highway vehicle restriction still remain in effect for most of the forest area except for parts south of the Wapiti River like Valleyview and Sturgeon.

People are reminded to call 310-FIRE immediately if they see smoke or a fire.
