Peace River train station gets restoration grant from province

A Peace River based project is one of 58 across the province to receive funding this year through the Alberta Historical Resources Foundation heritage grants program.

The town of Peace River is getting 12,600 dollars towards restoration work on the Northern Alberta Railway Station.

Built in 1916 to serve the newly built Peace River Crossing rail line, the station is one of the few two-story railway stations from that era remaining in the province.

The money is a historic resource conservation grant, coming from AHRF’s Heritage Preservation Partnership program.
