RCMP check stop Friday snags 6 impaired drivers

An RCMP holiday check stop on Friday saw 6 people charged with impaired driving offences, and a number of other violation tickets were handed out as well.

Police say they suspended two GDL licences, handed out a 72 hour suspension, and a 24 hour suspension for drug use.

Mounties also seized a vehicle and its contents, including a significant amount of cash, a loaded 45. cal hand gun, and 1 ounce of a powdered and likely controlled substance.

This was part of a larger national RCMP initiative that has been going on throughout the year.

You can expect to see more check stops set up around Grande Prairie throughout the holiday season.
