Fire advisory issued for Grande Prairie Forest Area

Due to warm temperatures and gusty winds in the forecast, a fire advisory has been issued for the Grande Prairie Forest Area.

Until further notice, fire permits will be issued on a case by case basis and the advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.

During the advisory campfires in campgrounds, backyards, or random camping areas are still allowed and so are charcoal briquettes, portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves and barbecues and catalytic or infrared-style heaters.

Due to the weather, the wildfire danger level has also been upped to high. Residents and visitors to the Grande Prairie Forest Area are urged to be extra cautious with fire at this time.
