Nominations for county Landscaping Recognition Program open

The County of Grande Prairie is looking for area businesses who make a pristine lot a priority.

Nominations for the third annual Landscaping Recognition Program opened Tuesday, and people can pick which businesses they think should get the nod for Best Landscaped Lot and People’s Choice Award.

“County businesses take a great deal of pride in creating an environment that is visually appealing, respects the environment, and complements the street and the businesses around them,” says Director of Planning and Development Nick Lapp. “It is important to recognize those efforts.”

The Best Landscaped Lot Award will be judged on a number of criteria, including; effective use of trees and shrubs, making use of native vegetation and is an industrial or commercial business located within the county.

People can nominate a business for either award by heading to the county website.  The nomination period will close on August 15, with the winners announced at the end of the month.
