UPDATE: The severe thunderstorm watch has ended.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Grande Prairie- Beaverlodge- Valleyview areas. Environment Canada says the area could see storms that may be capable of producing strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.
Scattered thunderstorms have developed and are expected to move southeastwards throughout the afternoon and early evening hours.
People are reminded that hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.
