The unemployment rate for western Alberta grew in the month of May. Statistics Canada says the economic region that houses Grande Prairie and Peace River increased to 5.7 percent for the month, up from 5.4 percent in April.
While the number for the region has gone up from 4.8 percent from the start of 2019, it still remains well below the provincial average of 6.8 percent.
