Fire ban lifted for the City of Grande Prairie

The fire ban in the City of Grande Prairie has been lifted. Grande Prairie Fire Department officials say the rain and colder than average temperatures brought the fire weather index to an appropriate level for the ban to be lifted.

As of Friday, residents in the city are now able to use open burn permits, which includes, all opening burning, consumer fireworks, backyard fire pits, and burn barrels.

Open burn permits must still be acquired from the Grande Prairie Fire Department. The fire ban was issued on May 21st.
