South Peace Regional Archives magazine picks up provincial award

The South Peace Regional Archive has received some silverware for its quarterly magazine. “Telling Our Stories” was nominated for and won, the Alan D. Ridge Award of Merit from The Archives Society of Alberta.

South Peace Regional Archive Executive Director Alyssa Currie says it’s an honour to share the stories of the region, but she is far from alone when it comes to crafting the award-winning magazine.

“Every issue of the magazine is the result of really hard work from archive staff, our volunteers, guest contributors. This award really recognizes a collective effort from everyone involved.”

Originally published in 2017, the magazine’s four main topics in 2018 ranged from ‘Timeless Love: Weddings of the South Peace’ to ‘South Peace Fish & Game’. Currie says the ability to share the stories of the past, will hopefully lead to a future which carries those memories forward.

“It reflects the combination of those who came before us and those who are continuing to work towards the goals of our community.”

A digital version of the magazine is available to the public free of charge through the archive’s website.
