Fire, off-road vehicle ban lifted for parts of forest area

Good news has come for people wanting to ride ATVs in the Grande Prairie Forest area. A fire ban and off-highway vehicle restriction are no longer in effect for parts of the forest area south of the Wapiti River like Valleyview and Sturgeon.

Alberta Wildfire says that while some areas got rain, other parts are still very dry. Because of that, the wildfire danger level in the area is currently high. Gusty wind and dry forest fuels continue to be a concern for the province.

A fire ban is still in place for most of the forest area along with the City and County of Grande Prairie, Towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, Wembley and the Village of Hythe.
