Free transit, entertainment announced as part of Municipal Government Day

It’s a day of free fun for the family, as Municipal Government Day has been set for June 27th.

“Historically it’s a day where we kind of celebrate Grande Prairie. We celebrate and recognize the services that are available throughout the city and make people aware of them,” says Revolution Place General Manager Scott Clark.

The event, which runs rain or shine from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Revolution Place, will include bouncy castles, a free bbq as well as live entertainment.

Clark says hopefully the event will help dispel the thought of some residents who have trouble drumming up things to do in and around the city.

“I’ve only been in the city here for just over two years, and I think there is an overabundance of things to do. We are always hopping and always finding stuff to do, sometimes it’s in the eye of the beholder. It’s an opportunity as well to meet some members of our council, meet some of the management team from the City of Grande Prairie. It’s a real feel-good kind of day.”

Public transit will also be free for all users from noon to 8 p.m. so residents can make their way down without having to worry about parking.
