Leave of absence extended for Councillor Clyde Blackburn

Clyde Blackburn’s leave of absence from Grande Prairie City Council has been extended. At the June 4th council meeting it was announced that Blackburn is currently in Edmonton undergoing a second round of chemotherapy for leukaemia.

He confirmed his diagnosis on Facebook back in March. Blackburn was elected to city council in 2017 and is the co-chair of the Grande Prairie International Street Performers Festival. He is retired after spending 25 years with ATCO Electric Customer Service.

The leave has been extended until the August 12th council meeting. At that time things will be reevaluated.
