Wembley under Level 1 water restriction

Wembley residents again have to watch their water use. A Level 1 water restriction has been brought in as of May 29th. The Town says it’s needed to protect the current water supply until Aquatera’s line is up and running.
The restriction means odd numbered addresses can only water their lawns on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, while people with even numbered addresses are limited to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. In all cases, watering can only happen between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Residents can water their flowerbeds and vegetable gardens by hand at any time using a watering can or a hose with a nozzle that has a trigger shut off to restrict water flow. Sprinklers and water toys can be used for children to play with as long as they are around at the time. Pools with less than 1,000 litres space can also be filled.
A $22 million water line from Aquatera’s treatment plant in Grande Prairie to Wembley’s reservoir is expecting to be flowing by mid-June. The town has had to deal with several water restrictions and shortages over the past several years.
