New water system for Woodland Cree First Nation up and running

Residents of the Woodland Cree First Nation now have easier and cheaper access to safe drinking water.

A $4.2 million project by the federal government has built a new water pipeline and truck fill station at Marten Lake.

Peace River MP Chris Warkentin says for years the community got its water trucked in from Cadotte Lake 30 kilometres away, and Chief Isaac Laboucan-Aviron says it’s made a difference for his members.

The First Nation is approximately 130 kilometres east of Peace River, with a population of more then 800.
