Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services team will be holding a Candy Cane Checkstop somewhere in Grande Prairie on December 11.
With the help of other community partners, the educational campaign will be visiting communities around the Peace Region all this month.
Motorists pulled over to a check stop receive a candy cane, as well as reminders about preparing their vehicles for emergencies with warm clothes and flash lights, about driving to the conditions on snow covered roads, and of course to never drink and drive.
Candy Cane Checkstops will also be set up in Valleyview on December 6, in Grimshaw and Fairview on the 12, and in Hythe and Beaverlodge on the 22.
