RCMP Major Crimes investigating pair of homicides

The deaths of two men in the Beaverlodge region are being investigated as homicides. Both were declared dead the morning of May 17th and it’s believed they are connected.

Mounties say the first man was dropped off at a hospital around 2:45 a.m. suffering from serious injuries. 48-year-old Derrick Ferguson was pronounced dead a short time later. Then around 5:30 a.m., authorities were called to a home on the Horse Lake First Nation where another man was found with severe injuries. 28-year-old Warren Lonnie Laboucan also pronounced dead despite help from EMS.

An autopsy has since been conducted on both men, and the medical examiner ruled both deaths a homicide. Beaverlodge RCMP, Western Alberta District GIS, and RCMP Major Crimes South continue to investigate.

Anyone with information about either case is urged to call the Beaverlodge RCMP at 780-354-2485 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
