ALERT finds guns, drugs in Grande Prairie bust

Three people have been arrested in Grande Prairie after guns, drugs and cash were found during a bust in the city.

On May 13th, three suspects were arrested in the parking lot of the Grande Prairie Power Centre where an alleged exchange of guns was taking place. The arrests came as part of a straw purchasing investigation where someone with a valid Possession and Acquisition License buys guns for someone else or resells them.

ALERT alleges that a 49-year-old woman was selling guns to the second suspect. The 23-year-old High Prairie man attempting to buy them was also arrested with a large amount of suspected cocaine in his possession. A second woman was also present at the time.

During the search of two vehicles, ALERT allegedly found guns, ammunition and magazines, body armour, 810 grams of suspected cocaine and more than $5,000 in cash.
