More than 250 Grande Prairie youth took part in Try-It Day activities

The first ever Try-It Day in Grande Prairie is being hailed as a success.

Despite the freezing temperatures more than 250 youth in the community took part.

The Royal Bank of Canada was one organization that helped make Try-It Day a free event.

Nicholas Govias works with the bank, and helped present the city with a 15-thousand dollar cheque.

“Generally, anything and everything to help kids grow in confidence, become better equipped to handle life, and just to have fun. I think with the way times are chaging, we’re seeing an shift in what fun means, so it’s nice to get back to some of the basics.”

Through the Sport Council’s sport partners, on November 29 Grande Prairie Youth got to try out a number of different sports, such as badminton, fencing, cheer leading, and water polo.
