Two Grande Prairie RCMP members receive Commendations for Bravery

A pair of Grande Prairie RCMP members have received Commendations for Bravery.

Sgt. Shiloh Fragomeni and Cst. Darren Jensen both responded to a complaint involving a suicidal male at a residence in November 2015, when they arrived they found a man with a long-barreled gun to his chest and his finger on the trigger.

After what officers believed was a successful conversation, the man pulled the trigger of the weapon, which did not fire. The officers, along with two others, were able to get the gun from the man and take him into custody without further issue.

The commendation, which “recognizes courage in the face of dangerous circumstances beyond those commonly encountered in routine police work”, was handed out by RCMP Deputy Commissioner Curtis Zablocki at a ceremony in Edmonton.
