New record set at Peace Country Classic track meet

Saturday was a good day for members of the Peace Country Wolves Athletics Club. At the Peace Country Classic track meet, member Brandon Tufford set a new meet record in the Men’s 800-metre with 1:56. Fellow teammates Kobe Grocholski and Chris Nelissen were right behind him both running under two minutes for the first time.

One hundred and fifty-seven athletes, ranging in age from four to 89, from across Northern Alberta took to the track at Legion Field on May 11th for the annual event.

This year’s meet also served as a zone qualifier for the 2019 Alberta 55+ Games. Around 12 local athletes have been chosen to compete at that event this July in Medicine Hat.
