Hundreds warned about unsecured loads during annual blitz

County of Grande Prairie officials were busy over the weekend with annual load securement checkpoints. Members from County Regional Enforcement Services and Public Works issued three tickets and 24 warnings for motorists with unsecured loads.

Around 1,400 vehicles were stopped at checks set up around waste management and recycling centres, with 200 warnings also handed out.

Seventy-two tickets and a 24-hour licence suspension were issued for a variety of other offences including driving with cannabis within reach of an occupant, driving with a suspended licence, and vehicle safety issues.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliances International Roadcheck will take place June 4-6.
