MS Walk set for Saturday at Muskoseepi Park

Over 200 participants have already signed up for The Jayman Built MS Walk set to take over Muskoseepi Park on Saturday, May 11th.

The annual fundraiser has set a goal of $50,000, and coordinator Carla Holton says they’re nearly three-quarters of the way there.

“Right now we’re sitting at 63 per cent of our goal, but definitely by the end of Saturday, we should make that.

The day will feature walks of varying lengths, from one to five kilometres. Holton says the difference between the MS walk and some of the others is the relaxed atmosphere it presents.

“When people say ‘I don’t know if I’ll make it the 1km’, it’s not like people are there going you have to be walking. Just coming out, being part of the day, a very family-oriented event.”

The Grande Prairie MS Walk is one of 12 events around Alberta on Saturday. It’s estimated that 1 in 340 Canadians is living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Registration for the walk starts at 11 a.m at Muskoseepi Park. You can also register online here.
