Disabled Transportation Society receives $100,000 from the county

County of Grande Prairie council has given the green light to a $100,000 grant for the Disabled Transportation Society of Grande Prairie.

The money was part of the Senior and Special Needs Transportation Grants program, which also handed over funds to 10 other local organizations.

“Council recognizes and values the important work that these organizations play in enhancing the lives of our residents,” said Reeve Leanne Beaupre. “These transportation grants offer seniors and residents with special needs the ability to access resources that support their independence and enhance their quality of life.”

The money is in addition to the $615,750 the society received from the City of Grande Prairie as part of the 2019 Community Group Funding program in January of this year.

Other recipients include the Grande Spirit Foundation, Beaverlodge Senior Citizens Association and Grande Prairie & District Golden Age Centre.
