Grain Bin Brewing Company takes home silver at Canadian Brewing Awards

The Grain Bin Brewing Company’s ‘Landlocked IPA’ took home a silver medal in the American Belgo-Style Ale category at the 2019 Canadian Brewing Awards.

“That was actually the first run we had done on that beer. We knew before receiving the award that the landlocked IPA was a crowd pleaser,” says Grain Bin Brewer Dalen Landis.

“It’s definitely not a one and done beer, we’re gonna be releasing more, probably this weekend.”

Landis says the beer was entered into a different category than most IPA’s but adds they were thrilled to join a contingent of Alberta brewers have seemingly been cleaning up at award shows in the last few years.

He adds that since rules against craft beer makers have been loosened by the ALGC, the taps of creativity have been opened by those who make suds for a living.

“Now that it is a couple of years in we are absolutely seeing a lot of the talent start to really shine.”

This is the second award in as many months for the Grande Prairie based brewers as ‘Grain Bin II’ took home gold in the Best in Show category as part of Avenue Calgary’s annual Best Beer in Alberta awards in March.
