Crews quickly tackle fire near Sexsmith

No one was injured after a structure fire broke out near Sexsmith on Sunday night.

Fire crews say they were called to the scene of the blaze near Range Road 52 and Township Road 733 around 8 p.m., and when they arrived they found a holiday trailer inside of a storage shed on fire.

Crews knocked down the fire quickly and stopped it spreading to nearby buildings, including a house.

Officials say the quick thinking resident should get his share of the thanks when it comes to keeping damage to a minimum.

“An immediate call to 911 made the difference in preventing this fire from spreading to other structures,” said Regional Fire Service Deputy Chief Jason Nesbitt.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
