UPDATE: Oilfield medic deceased in Highway 40 accident

UPDATE: RCMP is still investigating a crash between a logging truck and a pick up yesterday that resulted in the death of the pick up truck driver. When police arrived on scene, the driver of the pick up – a male oilfield medic – had passed away. The driver of the logging truck was not injured. Mounties say early indications are the the northbound semi collided with the south bound truck. Road conditions are considered a factor. The name is of the deceased is not being released as police are still notifying next of kin.

One person is dead after an accident on Highway 40, 50 kilometres south of Grande Prairie.

A semi and a pick up crashed around 5 p.m.

Traffic is down to one lane as RCMP investigates.
