City to review College Park Area Redevelopment Plan

One of the oldest neighbourhood in Grande Prairie will be getting a thorough look over as part an Area Redevelopment Plan review.

College Park, which is nestled on the west side of Muskoseepi Park to 106 Street, and 104 and 100 Avenue hasn’t seen much in the terms of development in the last 20 years. The city now wants to look at potential ways of upgrading what they call “intensification as a means of promoting neighbourhood renewal.”

Mayor Bill Given says he believes it will be a great opportunity to look at one of the most important areas of Grande Prairie.

“The college is a huge economic driver for our region, it’s also a huge activity driver. Figuring out a way to manage the redevelopment pressures on the residential neighbourhood and guiding the future development of the area as a whole is something that will benefit everybody.”

City officials say the review will take upwards of a year to complete, and will involve numerous public consultation sessions.
