The County of Grande Prairie has been talking about public transit for Clairmont for years, and after a presentation by local students yesterday, they’re now exploring their options.
The Clairmont Community School students said they have a hard time getting to recreation facilities, but Reeve Leanne Beaupre says they’ve also heard that not having the service could be hurting their efforts in attracting businesses to the hamlet.
“And I think this is the perfect opportunity for us to be able to talk to the City of Grande Prairie about the connection between the Clairmont area, Evergreen Park, County Sportsplex, different places like that.”
The County has until the end of the month to apply for a grant that could cover two-thirds of the initial capital costs.
A final decision will be largely based on whether they’re successful.
