Teams set for 3D Charity Hockey and Soccer Tournament

The 19th annual 3D Charity Hockey and Soccer Tournament will be taking over the Eastlink and Coca Cola Centre this weekend, with 70 teams ready to participate.

The event, which began back in 1999, helps raise money for local sick kids in need. Organizer Darren Foley says all three area school districts deserve a huge round of applause for making the event bigger and better than ever.

“If the kids weren’t interested in taking part in the tournament, donating their time and helping us find sponsors this wouldn’t be happening.”

As of 2018, the tournament has raised over $950,000. This year, Foley hopes they will crack $1 million total, with all the money staying close to home.

“With our charity, all the money stays locally within the three school districts. It’s supporting kids right in our community, so you know the money is staying local which is a great feeling.”

The hockey tournament will run April 25th-27th at the Coca Cola Centre, with the soccer tournament set for April 26th and 27th at the Eastlink Centre.
