UPDATE: One person injured in Highway 40 tanker crash

UPDATE #3: One person was taken to hospital as a result of Tuesday’s tanker rollover on Highway 40. RCMP says the semi swerved near the North Imperial Road and took both tankers into the ditch, blocking traffic for several hours.

While they were carrying crude oil, it didn’t leak. The 39-year-old driver suffered non-life threatening injuries. Occupational Health and Safety has been notified.

UPDATE #2: Traffic is now flowing in both directions. RCMP says it is looking into all factors of the crash.

UPDATE: Traffic on Highway 40 has reopened to one lane in alternating directions. Drivers should still expect delays.

Traffic isn’t moving in either direction on Highway 40 south of Grande Prairie. RCMP says a truck with two tankers has crashed and asks drivers to consider using another route if possible.

Based on reports on social media, the crash location is just north of the North Imperial Road. The Grovedale Fire Department says to expect delays up to three hours.
