A Spirit River RCMP officer charged with fabricating evidence and perjury will finally face trial next fall.
26 year old Constable Matthew Slipp was ordered to stand trial after a preliminary hearing on November 4th, and a five day judge and jury trial has been scheduled to start on October 5th. 2015.
Slipp was suspended with pay in December 2013 for allegedly faking a legal document in connection with an incident in February of that year.
The document in question was an affadavit of non-service, used to show that someone couldn’t be served legal papers, that he reportedly knew was false.
The constable has previously been disciplined, pleading guilty to careless use of a firearm in 2010 after accidentally firing his service gun while cleaning it in Red Deer in 2008.
