Scenic Ridge home woken by fire

Everyone was able to make it out safely after a fire broke out in a Scenic Ridge home early Friday morning.

The Grande Prairie Fire Department says a neighbour called emergency services as the people inside the home were sleeping. They were just leaving the house when fire trucks arrived.

At that time, flames could be seen on the outside of the building spreading into the attic. Platoon Chief Steve Larsen says both the attic and exterior of the home were damaged by the fire while smoke damaged the inside.

The cause of the blaze is now under investigation.
