City and County hosting Earth Day celebration

Residents in both the City and County of Grande Prairie are invited do their part for Earth Day. An event called “Energy, Trees, Less Garbage, Please!” is planned for April 27th.

It will include craft stalls and activities for all ages, including the chance to repurpose mason jars into eco-friendly planters. It will also feature a live artist, who will be creating an art piece by repurposing everyday items such as milk jug bottle caps, plastic straws, and balloons.

Jessica Foley with the City of Grande Prairie says it doesn’t matter how someone starts to make a change to their carbon footprint; they just have to make one.

“The goal of the event is to show people how to make small, simple, changes that have a big impact on our day-to-day lives. The afternoon will be a chance for all ages to learn about green initiatives available across our region.”
