One dead in early morning collision on Highway 43

UPDATE: RCMP are investigating the death of a woman who was struck by a vehicle early this morning while walking on Highway 43.

Around 1 am, police were called to the scene near Range Road 53.

The woman was reportedly hit by a semi-truck.

Traffic was diverted for several hours while emergency crews attended, and the highway was reopened shortly before 7am.

The victim has yet to be identified, but anyone with information about the incident is asked to get in touch with the local detachment or crime stoppers.

At least one person is dead after a fatal collision east of Grande Prairie on Highway 43 this morning.

Police say a vehicle hit a pedestrian in the area of Range Road 53 sometime shortly before 1:30 am.

The eastbound lanes of the highway have been reopened to traffic.

RCMP say more details will be available later this morning.
