City surveying businesses as part of new Economic Development Strategy

Businesses owners and managers in Grande Prairie may be getting a call to help the city better understand what the economic roadmap may look like down the road.

As part of a new Economic Development Strategy, the survey will select up to 500 local businesses at random to try and understand the future plans and current needs.

Senior Economic Development Officer Rebecca Leigh says she hopes the questions and answers will help planners get a much richer overview of the situation.

“For the city to play a roll in helping to support businesses either in growth mode. Taking advantage of growth opportunities or helping to ensure we are identifying challenges or barriers they might be facing.”

Leigh adds the survey is looking for employers of all sizes to help the survey more fulsome.

“The survey is looking to speak to businesses of different sizes and different industries to try and get a good spectrum of the business community.”

The survey will run until April 28th, with results not expected to be made public until August.
