Former GPRC employee charged with fraud

A former employee at Grande Prairie Regional College has been charged with fraud. An RCMP investigation revealed some discrepancies in documents totalling more than $5,000 suspected to be from a former employee.

47-year-old Kristina Van De Walle of Clairmont has been charged with fraud over $5,000, four counts of uttering a forged document and four counts of forgery.

GPRC President and CEO Don Gnatiuk says as soon as the post-secondary institution found out about the issues they called in the RCMP.

“GPRC’s financial process quickly identified the irregularities and the College immediately brought in an external accounting agency to help investigate. This information was provided to the RCMP. As charges have been laid, and this will likely become a matter before the courts, GPRC will not be commenting further on the details of the case.”
