Joint government funding for renos and replacements of rural seniors lodges

Seniors homes in rural communities in serious need of major renovations or replacements will be getting some financial help from the federal and provincial governments.

The Canada-Alberta Agreement for Investment in Affordable Housing will see $160 million invested over the next four years in properties outside of major urban centres.

Evaluations will be done with housing management groups to determine what projects are a priority, so at this point what may be coming to the Peace Country is unknown.

Minister of Seniors Jeff Johnson points out that nearly 70 per cent of seniors lodges are in rural communities, making multi-year commitments critical.
