Peace Country election candidates finalized

There will be six people on the ballot when Grande Prairie residents head to the polls April 16th. The list of candidates for the new urban Grande Prairie riding includes Tracy Allard with the United Conservative Party, Grant Berg with the Alberta Party, Bernard Hancock with the Freedom Conservative Party, Independent Rony Rajput, the Alberta Independence Party’s Ray Robertson, and the Alberta NDP’s Todd Russell.

In Grande Prairie – Wapiti, four people are vying to replace retired MLA Wayne Drysdale. Independent Terry Dueck is up against Shannon Dunfield with the Alberta NDP, the Alberta Party’s Jason Jones, and Travis Toews with the UCP.

The race in the renamed Central Peace – Notley riding will feature two incumbent MLAs alongside two newcomers. The UCP’s Todd Loewen will face off against the NDP’s Marg McCuaig-Boyd, the Alberta Party’s Travis McKim, and Wayne F Meyer with the Alberta Liberal Party.

The Peace River riding also has a full slate. Dakota House with the Alberta Party is running with incumbent Debbie Jabbour of the NDP, Connie Russell with the Freedom Conservative Party, Remi J Tardif with the Liberals, and the UCP’s Dan Williams.

Polling stations will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on April 16th. Advance polls will be open from April 9th to 13th.
