UPDATE: Driver in hit and run turns himself in

UPDATE: The driver involved in the pedestrian hit and run has turned himself in to police. TheĀ 66 year old man from the County of Grande Prairie went to the local RCMP detachment earlier today.

One person is in hospital following a hit and run south of Grande Prairie on Sunday.

Police say a crew was working on the Weyerhauser Road North towing a truck out of a ditch around 2:10 pm.

The area was marked with speed signs and flaggers when a white semi came down the hill towards the workers.

RCMP say the driver hit the brakes which caused the trailer to jack-knife and hit a male on the road, who was thrown into the ditch.

Police are now looking for the driver, who left the scene in a white single axle Kenworth with a red company logo, a red picker, and a red flatdeck.

The driver is described as a caucasian male in his 60s.

The condition of the injured male is unknown.

Anyone with information on the truck or the driver is asked to contact the local detachment or Crime Stoppers.
