UPDATE: AER called in to help with aftermath of Dunvegan gas plant fire

UPDATE: The Alberta Energy Regulator says it will be working with local emergency services as the investigation into a fire at the Dunvegan gas plant continues.

“On March 20, CNRL notified the AER of a fire from an underground tank at their facility and that they had activated their emergency response plan… The AER continues to work with the company, the RCMP, and local fire department to ensure all safety and environmental requirements are met during the response to the incident.”

The cause of a fire at the Dunvegan gas plant is currently under investigation. At around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night, the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call at Canadian Natural’s Dunvegan Plant. In a statement, a spokesperson for CNRL says the fire started in an isolated part of the factory.

“Our staff immediately responded with the activation of our emergency response plan, including contacting the Fairview fire department. The fire was successfully extinguished with no reported injuries.”
